NYCDDC – Project No. HWK614D

REI Services for the Reconstruction of Bergen Avenue Area, Phase D Borough of Brooklyn, New York.

On this $52 million capital project, NYPS is the Sub-Consultant to Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, DPC. NYPS provides Resident Engineering Inspection services and community liaison services. This project involves the reconstruction of Sanitary Sewers, Water Mains, Catch Basins, Roadways, New Sidewalks, Curbs, and Traffic Lights. Pavement deterioration and settlement have exposed substandard curbs, broken curbs, and substandard sidewalks, making this capital improvement vital for its community.

The community of Bergen Avenue area requires new storm sewers and storm sewer replacement to provide adequate storm sewer service. Additionally, Water Main replacement is necessary to replace old, unlined cast-iron pipes. On the eastern side of Paerdegat Basin, Bergen Avenue runs east-west between Ralph Avenue and Community Board. Bergen Avenue has two-way traffic and a 45-degree parking lane. On the south side are mainly residential properties, and on the north side are parks and recreational facilities, as well as other city-owned properties.
